Edward David Bannocks enlisted into the General Service Corps. He was then posted to The Royal Artillery.In 1943 Gunner Bannocks volunteered for airborne forces and served in 210 Airlanding Light Battery RA, part of the 53rd (Worcester Yeomanry) Airlanding Light Regiment RA.

Gnr Bannocks served in Normandy and The Ardennes.
