Malcolm E 'Kit' Carson was a Junior Para 1968. He Passed P company and was then posted to 1 PARA, Machine Gun platoon, Palace Bks, Belfast.

After 3 Scottish soldiers were killed in Ligoniel, Belfast, the Government decision to send all under 18s back to non-combative unit in England. Kit successfully passed his parachute jump instruction on course 736. This course ran between 4 and 29 January 1971. He jumped from Andover and Argosy aircraft. His instructor noted this about Kit's performance on this course:

"Pte. Carson reached a good standard in both ground training and parachuting phases."       

Kit was then posted to Brecon as part of Demolition Platoon and SP Company training in Mortar, Atks and SF GPMG.

Then he was posted to 3 Para Atks on reaching 18. Normal duties with 3 PARA in UK., Europe and Africa (Ghana and Sudan). Kit also saw service in Malaysia and Singapore.

During his posting to Minden, BAOR, Kit was part of Int. Cell, 3 Para. Transferred to Intelligence Corps in 1978/1979. Completed training in Int Corps depot in Ashford, Kent. Posted on Intel duties to Berlin, NI several times, and over in Central America.

Kit was awarded QGM for duties in NI. 1987, presented by Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace. This award was recorded in The London Gazette 14 April 1987. Kit was also awarded a clasp to his Accumulated Campaign Medal.

After 3 years as PSI Int Corps (V), he retired from  The Army as WO2 in 1993.
