John Royce Jones was the son of William and Daisy Jones; husband of Marjorie Jones, of Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire.He successfully completed his training at Ringway on 11 December 1942.

Corporal Jones was posted to 6th Battalion (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion,and served in Italy.

He died on 10 September 1943 and is now commemorated at the Cassino Memorial, Italy.
