Rob Simpson joined the 10 Para Mortar Platoon at Leigh On Sea in late 1987.

Passing P Company at Depot Para in Aldershot and then his Wings Course at RAF Brize Norton, Private Simpson became an active mortar platoon team member, taking part in many exercises and jumps both abroad and within the UK. 

As a Lance Corporal he passed his Mortar Fire Controllers Course at Support Weapons Wing at Netheravon in 1992, after which he supported Battalion Rifle Companies in the MFC role, and often working with FOOs. 

He later transferred to 3 Company based at Finchley, in North London before leaving in 1996.

Rob and family enjoyed Skydiving in recent years, but he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Rob sadly passed away 20 May 2022.
