Staff Sergeant James Frederick Boyd, son of Jeanie Boyd, of Portstewart, Co. Londonderry, Northern Ireland, served as Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant of B Squadon, 1st Wing, Glider Pilot Regiment. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.Staff Sergeant Boyd died on 23 September 1944, aged 22 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
