Colin Bowden was commissioned into the Loyals in 1954 transferring to the Parachute Regiment in 1973. Brigadier Bowden was twice mentioned in despatches during his army career, the first occasion for actions while serving in Malaya in 1958 with the The Loyal Regiment) North Lancashire. He was mentioned again after 2 PARA's 1975 tour in Northern Ireland while he was Commanding Officer.
Later he served in School of Infantry and the Royal Brunei Malay Regt
Colin Bowden retied from the army in 1989.
He passed away on Tuesday 13 September 2016.
