Robert Eric Heavens was the son of Charles John and Tryphosa Elizabeth Heavens. Husband of Rose (Dowdeswell) Heavens, of Swindon, Wiltshire. Married July 1936. He enlisted in the The Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Robert was posted to B Squadron, 1st Special Air Service Regiment, Army Air Corps.

He was murdered by a Nazi firing squad on 7 July 1944, aged 31 and is now buried in Rom Communal Cemetery. Southern France.
