Dan Morgans commissioned at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurtst in April 2008 and served as the Airborne Troop Commander within 15 Air Assault Close Support Squadron, 13 Air Assault Support Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps, from 2008-10.

He passed P Company in the snow of Dec 2008 and completed BPC 1204 (Jul-Sep 2009) to earn his British Parachute Jump Wings.

Dan deployed as Force Protection Troop Commander for 13 Close Support Logistic  Regiment (CSLR) on OP HERRICK 13.

Subsequent appointments included Intelligence Officer for 4 Logistic Support Regiment (deploying on OP HERRICK 16), SO3 G1 at Headquarters 101 Logistic Brigade, Adjutant at 10 The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment, and SO2 CSS Plans at Headquarters 16 Air Assault Brigade.

While serving at HQ 16X, he earned his French Parachute Wings in Pau in May 2018, and was awarded his silver German jump wings in Arnhem in Sep 2019. His time in HQ 16X culminated with the deployment on Ex SWIFT RESPONSE in Croatia.

He was appointed at Officer Commanding 63 Air Assault Support Squadron, 13 Air Assault Support Regiment, in July 2019.

63 Sqn were due to deploy on Ex BARBARY SUN (Gibraltar) and Ex WESSEX STORM (Kenya) during his tenure as OC, but the COVID pandemic saw both exercises cancelled. As such, 63 Sqn were validated as part of the 2 PARA Battlegroup on Ex WESSEX STORM on Salisbury Plain in Nov/Dec 2020. 

 

Following subunit command, Dan deployed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the UK’s Enhanced Forward Presence (Op CABRIT) in Tallinn, Estonia. He was awarded his Estonian Military Parachutist Wings in September 2021, jumping from an Antinov AN-2 on an MC-6. 

 

He was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army Special Operations Brigade in April 2022.
