Private Francis William Nicholson was the son of Frederick William and Esther Annie Nicholson, and husband of Margaret Nicholson, of Griffithstown, Pontypool, Monmouthshire. He served with 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.He died on 28 September 1944, aged 32 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
