George Bannatyne was the son of Elizabeth Bannatyne, of Glasgow, enlisted into the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry.Private Bannatyne volunteered for airborne services and served with 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry.
He was killed on 25 August 1944 and is now buried in Beuzeville Communal Cemetery, France.
