Sapper Alan Hancock form Salford qualified as a military parachutist on Course 195 which ran at RAF Upper Heyford from 1 to 25 July 1946, It was noted that he "works hard"Sapper Hancock was posted to the Tank Battalion at Guillimont Barracks before being transferred to 9 Airborne Squadron, Royal Engineers.
He was killed on the 29 February 1948 when his train was bombed near Rehoboth. He is now buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
