Private Gordon Best, son of Pickard and Anne Best, husband of Rita Best, of Bradford, Yorkshire, served with HQ Company 1st Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.Private Best died on 25 September 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
