William Michael Freude volunteered for The Parachute Regiment and attended parachute training course number 87 at RAF Ringway between 13 and 25 October 1943. His course report stated: 'very keen, made good course, quiet showed nerves.'L/Cpl Freude served with the 13th Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
L/Cpl Freude died on 21 August 1944, aged 20 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
