Sergeant Ian Albert Rogers served with Medium Machine Gun Platoon the 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (2 PARA).
31 year old Sgt Rogers was killed on 27 August 1979 at Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland by the second bomb detonated by the IRA that day. Members of the MMG Pln had arrived after an earlier explosion to assist the wounded and dead.
Sgt ‘Drummie’ Rogers is buried in Bishopstoke Cemetery, Eastleigh.
