J R Benson was the son of John William Benson, and of Mary Alice Benson, of Sparkbrook, Birmingham.He successfully completed his parachute training on 29 November 1945. Signalman Benson was then posted to the 1 Airborne Division and he went to Palestine.
He died on the 23 December 1946 and is now buried on Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
