John Lundy Rees enlisted into 10th Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers.When the battalion converted to an airborne role in August 1942, he undertook parachute training course 23 from 17 to 23 August 1942.
Sergeant ‘Jack’ Rees served with 8 Platoon, A Company, the 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion in North Africa, Italy, Southern France and Greece.
He was awarded the Legion d'Honneur for his part in Operation Dragoon.
A devoted Catholic ‘Jack’ Rees was awarded the Papal Award of a Bene Merenti Medal in 2006.
