Mathew Wyndham Beer Goldsworthy enlisted into the Dorsertshire Regiment.

Private Goldsworthy volunteered for airborne forces and undertook parachute training course 69 which ran from 28 September to 5 October 1943 at No 4 Middle East Training School (No 4 METS) at RAF Kabrit, Suez Canal Zone, Egypt.

He was posted to The 11th Parachute Battalion and jumped into Arnhem on Operation Market Garden on 18 September 1944.

Pte Goldsworthy was Killed in Action on 19 September 1944 aged 26. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Memorial of the Missing at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
