Owen Douglas McClory served with The Sussex Regiment prior to volunteering for airborne forces in the Middle East during World War II and was posted to the 11th Parachute Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.He subsequently fought with the Battalion during the Battle of Arnhem in No 6 Platoon, B Company as a PIAT operator and was taken prisoner of war.
