Michael Homer enjoyed a lengthy Airborne career with The 1st Battalion The Parachute Regiment (1 PARA), serving with the unit for twenty three years.During his service, he rose through the ranks to Colour Sergeant, serving for much of his time with the Mortars and took part on deployments overseas, including Aden in 1967 through to Hong Kong in 1980.

C/Sgt Homer finally left 1 PARA in 1988.
