The 1st Airlanding Anti-Tank Regiment Royal Artillery was formed on 23 March 1945, comprising the 1st, 2nd and 5th Airlanding Anti-Tank Batteries, as part of 1st Airborne Division.

The 1st and 2nd batteries had already formed part of the divisional order of battle since 1942, although the 5th battery had not been added until February 1945.

Each battery had three troops of 6 pounder anti-tank guns and two troops of 17 pounder anti-tank guns.

The regiment deployed with the division for the liberation of Norway in Operation Doomsday, and was disbanded in August 1945, shortly after its return, with the exception of the 1st Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, which continued until March 1946.
