RAF Netheravon is located on Salisbury Plain. It saw extensive use throughout both the First World War and the Second World War.
At the outbreak of the Second World War it was home to the newly renamed No. 1 Service Flying Training School. Over the next 6 years it was home to a variety of RAF squadrons but notably to No. 38 Group RAF.
This squadron was responsible for transporting the men of the 1st Airborne Division to Arnhem for Operation Market Garden. They were based at Netheravon prior to being redeployed in June 1944 to various airfields.
