All the Sqn gliders are unloaded.
17 June 1944.
Operation ‘WILD OATS’ is finally cancelled. A party of 1 Officer and 9 O.R’s proceed to R.A.F. Ringway for a Parachute Course. These personnel are from 1st Reinforcements.
18 June 1944.
Troop training with particular stress to fitness and marching is carried out by the Parachute Party.
20 June 1944.
The glider party returns to the Squadron area from R.A.F. Tarrant Rushton, leaving all unloading and lashing gear stored in the aerodrome. Tpr. Mumford, L, is accidentally shot and killed whilst out training with ‘A’ Troop.
23 June 1944.
‘C’ & ‘D’ Troops proceed to Coplow Dale for four days Troop Training which includes Field Firing.
24 June 1944.
Personnel from ‘A’ Troop attend the funeral of Tpr. Mumford at Leicester.
