09.30-10.00 hrs, Utrechtseweg opposite the junction with Bredeweg. Photo of a ‘jeep patrol setting out to go into Arnhem’. The officer at the rear of the jeep is usually identified as Lt-Col. Robert Loder-Symonds (mainly due to the CRA sign at the base of the telegraph pole, but he was away with the GOC at this time). It is more likely to be Lt-Col. Iain Murray, Commander of No 1 Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment. The officer to his left is Captain K.F. ‘Jock’ Strathern (Intelligence Officer, ‘D’ Sqn) and the officer looking towards the camera is Capt. J.B. Bottomley (Intelligence Officer, No 1 Wing HQ), to his right is Captain. James Ogilvie (Second In Command, D-Sqn).
