Many thousands of civilians attended this memorial service, and hundreds of Dutch children laid wreaths on the graves. A detachment of the 1st Airborne Division crossed the Bailey Bridge at the entrance of the cemetery and, headed by a band consisting of Canadians, marched over a mile to the cemetery. This photo was taken in the cemetery showing the graves of the fallen officers, and men, and Dutch civilians from Arnhem and surrounding districts, who attended the memorial service.
