This was taken post Bahrain and pre-Borneo. A few changes happened before deployment to Borneo, but not many. Company Commanders in Borneo were Daniels – A Coy (Nibong) Fleming B Coy (Plaman Mapu), Herring C (Indep) Coy (later Patrol Company), (detached to Sibu), Barnes D Coy (Gunung Gajak) Beak HQ Coy (Balai Ringin) and Oscar Whitamore (Not in picture who had taken over from Gerald Mullins had Sp Coy in Balai Ringin. The main task of OC HQ Coy in Borneo was the Helicopter Tasking Officer which was a huge task because he ran the Red 01 LZ at Bali Ringin in its entirety including ground to air comms, refuelling as well as supervising loading and sorties. At times he would have three Whirlwind 3 completing running refuelling during tasking, two Scouts and/or Sioux airborne, and possibly inbound two Belvedere helicopters. Air resup by paradrop was organised by the QM George Ferguson at Echelon directly with 47 AD Sqn det at RAF Kuching. All requests were passed in quiet hours by letter codes and quantities to the Ops Room, checked and coord before passing to Echelon again in letter code format for fixing on our rear link radio or sometimes `secure’ land telephone.
