An Army wide rationalisation of the recruit training system took place in 1993, resulting in the closure of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces Depot which had previously trained Parachute Regiment recruits.
Subsequently, all recruits were trained initially at the Army’s Individual Training Organization (ITO) at the Army Training Regiment Lichfield (ATR-L), before moving on to Parachute Company at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) in Catterick, where they also completed their specialist training and P Company.
The first phase of training Parachute Regiment recruits at Lichfield ended in around 2002 when all infantry recruit training was transferred to ITC Catterick.
