2nd/3rd Parachute Battalion

1947 to 1948

In December 1947, the 2nd Battalion was merged with the 3rd Battalion and was redesignated the 2nd/3rd Parachute Battalion, however it was disbanded in July 1948 as part of the shake up of the Airborne forces. It was immediately replaced with 2 PARA, formed from the 5th (Scottish) Parachute Battalion, and this unit still exists today.
