William Henry Reeve was born in East London and lived in Essex. He enlisted in the Essex Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Reeve successfully completed his parachute training on course number 36 at RAF Ringway from 5 to 12 November 1942. He was posted to 3 Platoon, A Company, 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Reeve was killed in action between 18 and 25 September 1944, aged 22. He was given a field burial in the garden of a bungalow in Oosterbeek and re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 10 September 1945.
