Sergeant William Henry Ernest Steer, son of Bert and Sophia Steer, of Leatherhead, Surrey, served with 12th (Yorks) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Normandy campaign.
Sergeant Steer died on 4 July 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
