William George Harvey volunteered for airborne forces and went on parachute training course 130 at RAF Ringway. The course lasted from the 19th August - 4th September 1944. It was noted that he was "Quiet, but cheerful - tries hard - parachuting fair"
Upon successful completion of the course, Private Harvey was posted to 224 Parachute Field Ambulance, Army Air Corps.
Pte Harvey took part in the Rhine Crossing (Op Varsity).
William Harvey passed away in January, 2000.
