A suicide raid by the Japanese on 23rd March at Sangshak revealed on a dead Japanese Officer a map which revealed the enemys order of battle...which would be of great importance to the British.Driver Giltrap volunteered along with an Officer to return this map and each had a copy to return to British HQ at Imphal. If they were captured,it does not bear to to think of their outcome.Through the Jap lines they both made it to HQ with their maps.
