Walter Graham Palmer the son of John James and Ann Riley Palmer, of Litherland, Liverpool, enlisted into the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and transferred to the Liverpool Scottish Regiment before volunteering for airborne forces.
Private Palmer successfully completed his training at Ringway on course 52 from 22 February to 8 March 1943 and was posted to 5th (Scottish) Parachute Battalion.
He went with the battalion on Operation Torch in North Africa.
Pte Palmer was killed in a training accident on 28 May 1943, age 22. He is buried at Le Petit Lac Cemetery, Algeria.
