Thomas Healey enlisted into the General Service Corps.
He volunteered for airborne forces, whilst serving with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
Private Healey qualified as a military parachutist on Couse 142 which ran at RAF Ringway from 13 to 25 November 1944. The course instructors' notes record 'Pte Healey: Good, cheerful, hard worker.’
Pte Healey was posted to the 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (2 Para Bn) and was later attached to the Defence Platoon, protecting the HQ of 5th Parachute Brigade and took part in the operation to the Far East.
He died on 4 January 1946, aged 26 years old and is buried at the Jakarta War Cemetery, Java.
