Tom Prosho was serving with The East Surrey Regiment when he volunteered for airborne forces during World War II.
He qualified as a military parachutist on Course 58, which ran at RAF Ringway from 29 March to 11 April 1943 and was later posted to 1st Parachute Brigade as a reinforcement.
During the Battle of Arnhem he served as a No 1 on a PIAT in 1st Parachute Brigade HQ's Defence Platoon. Most of Brigade HQ personnel went to the bridge area with the 2nd Para Battalion, where they were eventually overrun by armoured German forces. Tom Prosho was taken as a prisoner of war during the battle and held in captivity until the camp's liberation in 1945.
After the war Tom became one of the founder life members of the Parachute 2 Club.
