Stanley William Charles Sears was the son of James and Lydia Sears and the husband of Isabella Sears, of Ibstone, Buckinghamshire. Lance/Sergeant enlisted into The Border Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
L/Sgt Sears successfully completed No 27 short, 4 descents, parachute course at RAF Ringway on 14 to 24 September 1942, he also completed his Glider training and was posted to D company 1st (Airborne) Battalion, The Border Regt. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
L/Sgt Sears was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 24. He was originally buried by local Air Raid Wardens in the Onder de Bomen General Cemetery at Renkum and was reinterred to Arnhem War Cemetery on 24 August 1945.
