Stanisław Leszek Godziemba-Gorzkowski was in the Second Battalion , 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade and dropped at Driel during Operation Market Garden.
He was one of a group of 200 who managed to cross the Rhine to assist the 1st Airborne Div make it's withdrawal back across the Rhine . He managed to successfully re-cross the river using a door from a burnout farmhouse as a makeshift raft.
