Sidney Frederick Gueran was the son of Sidney and Florence Gueran, of Ramsgate, Kent. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Sapper Gueran successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 101, from 31 January to 13 February 1944. His course report stated ‘Keen worker, jumped well from any position.’ He was posted to B Troop, 1st Parachute Squadron, Corps of Royal Engineers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Spr Gueran was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 27, in the Van Limburg Stirum school near the Arnhem Rhine Bridge. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek memorial to the missing.
