Ron Carter was born 25 February 1935 in Spilsby, Lincolnshire. In 1943 he attended Halton Road school in Spilsby and in 1952 played football for Lincolnshire Boys.
In 1953 he left school and started work as an apprentice builder, before, in 1957 being called up for National Service. That year he was posted to 217 Signals Sqn when Major Horner was the CO. April 1957 he did 4 weeks training 7TR at Catterick. In the May he did 12 weeks 4TR, also at Catterick.
In 1958 he was posted to Cyprus, and played hockey for Southern Command, he was also signed OSA. In 1959 he was posted to 216 Signals, started parachute jump training at Thornaby on Tees. That year he played both Hockey and football for both Signal Squadrons. He also saw service in Radfan. Ron was also involved in recruitment shows at Waterbeach, Colchester and Hounslow.
He was 'demobbed' in 1966, and 1967 got a job with Maplin Concrete in Basildon, Essex.
In 1982 he met Joyce and they were married the following year. In 1985 he became a Dairy Manager for Danish Bacon in Hutton, Essex.
Ron retired in 1991 and moved to Boston in Lincolnshire. In 2021, his beloved wife, Joyce, sadly passed away.
