Robert Ronson, son of Harry and Lydia Ronson, of Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire, he enlisted in the East Lancashire Regiment and then volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Ronson successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Kabrit, Egypt, and was posted to 11th Battalion Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Ronson was killed in action on 24 September 1944, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
