Private Robert Rodger

Robert Rodger served with The Royal Scots Fusiliers before volunteering for the airborne forces. He was the son of Robert and Jessie Rodger of Stranraer, Wigtownshire.

Robert successfully passed parachute jump instruction on course 8 at RAF Ringway. This course ran between 10 and 24 February 1942. On this course Major McDonough and L/Cp Duckett were killed in training accidents. 

Robert was then posted to The 4th Parachute Bn, A Coy. He saw service in Italy and South of France (Op Dragoon). He was killed on 15 August 1944, at the age of 29, and was laid to rest in The Mazargues War Cemetery, grave 4.C.12
