Robert Jones Cotton served with The Liverpool Scots Regiment before volunteering for the airborne forces.
He successfully completed his parachute jump instruction at RAF Ringway on course 73. This course ran between 19 and 28 July 1943. His instructor noted this about Robert's performance: "Worked hard and has shown improvement".
Robert saw service in operation in Italy and the South of France. He died from shrapnel wounds to the head on 21 August 1944 and was laid to rest at The Naples War Cemetery, Italy grave 1.E.10
