Robert George Ogilvie was the son of of Robert and Adeline Rayne Ogilvie, of Tynemouth, Northumberland; husband of Irene Ogilvie.
Lance Corporal Ogilvie successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on 21 April 1944. He was posted to the Airborne Forces Holding Unit before being transferred to 6th (Airborne) Divisional Provost Company Corps of Military Police (CMP).
L/Cpl Ogilvie was posted to Palestine.
He was killed on 1 March 1947 when his jeep was hit by a land mine disguised as a kilo stone. L/Cpl Ogilvie is now buried in Khayat Beach War Cemetery, Israel.
