Robert Duncan Brown was the son of Robert and Jean Brown, of Glasgow. He enlisted in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Staff Sergeant Brown successfully completed glider training and was posted to Royal Army Ordnance Corps, attached Headquarters 1st Airborne Division, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
S/Sgt Brown was killed in action between 25 and 26 September 1944, aged 25, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
