Richard Arnot Robertson was the son of Thomas and Alice Robertson, of Fishponds, Bristol. He was commissioned in the Royal Engineers and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Lieutenant Robertson successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 57, from 27 March to 11 April 1943. He was posted to A Troop, 1st Parachute Squadron, Corps of Royal Engineers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Lt Robertson was killed in action on 21 September 1944, in the Oosterbeek area. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek memorial to the missing.
