Reginald Robert Dixon was the son of Edwin and Doris Dixon, of Marlborough, Wiltshire. He enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Dixon successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to D Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Dixon was in Stalag IVB, and died after his liberation as a result of conditions during captivity on 17 April 1945, aged 20, and was given a field burial in the Ittenbach American Cemetery and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 11 June 1947.
