Private Reginald H Shuttlewood

Reginald Howard Shuttlewood, son of Howard and Rachel Shuttlewood, of Woodford Green, Essex, he enlisted in the Royal Engineers and then volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Shuttlewood successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 24 from 24 to 30 August 1942, and was posted to Defence Platoon, HQ Company 3rd Para Battalion Parachute Regiment. He took part in the campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Shuttlewood was killed in action on 20 September 1944, aged 25, in the area of the Rhine Bridge and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
