Reginald Broome, son of John and Elizabeth Broome; husband of Florence Broome, of Essington, Staffordshire, enlisted in The South Staffordshire Regiment and then volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Broome successfully completed his glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Broome was killed in action on 24/25 September 1944, aged 25, and given a field burial 100 yards north of Oosterbeek church. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 28 August 1945.
