Raymond Percy Gould, son of Percy William and Ivy Gould; husband of Jennie Gould, of Kilburn, Middlesex, enlisted in the Royal Engineers and volunteered for airborne forces.
Staff Sergeant Gould successfully completed his glider pilot training and was posted to E Squadron, 2nd Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
S/Sgt Gould was killed in action, aged 23, on 23/25 September 1944 and was given a field burial in an isolated group of 5 graves by the Hotel Sonnenberg at Oosterbeek, he was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 17 October 1945.
