Lieutenant Colonel Peter Mills served for nearly forty years with the Coldstream Guards. Beginning his Guards career in 1966, he took part in overseas deployments to Europe, Africa, the Mid and Far East, Central America in various Regimental, Staff Officer and United Nations roles. He also had a spell as British Military Liaison Instructor at Pau, in France during the later years of his military career.
He served with No 1 (Guards) Independent Parachute Company in the 1970s, joining in 1973. He held a wide variety of senior roles, rising from Troop Commander, through Air Adjutant, Second-in-Command (2-i-c) and finally, Commanded Guards Para Coy during the Farewell Parade to commemorate the disbandment of the Company, held in 1975.
Lt Col Mills remains active within the veterans community, as a Member of the Guards Parachute Association.
