Private Peter L King

Peter 'Pete' King joined up Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Engineers 26 June 1989.

He served in 8 Field Squadron, 22 Engineer Regiment. Deployment to the Falkland Islands 1991, Kenya 1992, Norway 1992 and in Germany with 7 Field Squadron exercising in Canada.

In 1993 posted to Aldershot with 9 Para Sqn RE, discharged from the Army 1994.

In 1998 Pete joined the Territorial Army with 17 Company 4 Para at Norton The company was disbanded in 1999. However in 2000 he re-enlisted to the regular army in the Royal Engineers. He was posted to Aldershot and was sent out to Northern Ireland with the Squadron.

Pete had a severe career threatening injury on a JNCO course fracturing his spine. Which ended airborne career. He stayed in Ulster with 33 Field Squadron until his discharge in 2004.

Pete was awarded a GSM NI clasp, QGJM & ACSM 1.

Pete was determined he would not finish with the Army, so he joined the TA Infantry in 2004 with B Coy Green Howards, Tyne - Tees Regiment gaining promotion in Support weapons. He stayed in the TA until 2006.

Pete was attested into Cleveland Constabulary as a Special Constable 2006 to 2007.

In 2007 he re joined the Territorial Army with the Royal Signals. After the unit disbanded so he transferred to the Royal Engineers with 170 Infrastructure, Chilwell. exercising in the Falkland Islands 2009.

In June 2009 he took up a appointment in the Adjutant General Corp in the Military Provost Guard Service. Based at the School of Infantry in Catterick. Pete was a NCO until he was discharged in October 2022.

In his 13 years in the MPGS he was awarded the QGJM, QPJM and LS & GC medals. 

Since leaving the Army Pete is now employed as a Private Military Contractor. He has been employed as a Maritime security officer and recently been working in Iraq on Op Shader.
